Cities in Missouri, and their populations

Estimated read time 2 min read

At first glance at this list, some of the cities in Missouri, a Midwestern US state, may not be large enough in terms of population to be classed as cities if they were in other countries.

Salem, for example, has a population of 5,245. In fact, it’s one of 11 on the list with fewer than 6,000 residents, according to 2023 estimates.

Even the largest, Kansas City, with a population of 510,704, is placed at number 38 across the United States. The largest being New York, with a population of more than 8.25 million.

America cities perhaps have smaller populations than one might imagine when compared to their outsized fame across the world.

Dallas, for example, only has a population of 1.3 million. You’d think it would have a lot more. It’s actually 9th on the national list in terms of population. All other cities below it have fewer than 1 million residents.
