The population of Missouri is now estimated to be almost 6.2 million people, according to the latest report by the US Census Bureau.
The exact figure is 6,196,156. More than half of are women – 3,139,380 – at 50.7 percent.
In terms of race, the Census Bureau says that 84.6 percent of the population are white, and that almost three-quarters – 74 percent – are over the age of 18, or of voting age.
The figures were revealed as part of the 2023 American Community Survey (ACS) 1-Year Estimates, which were recently released for the nation, states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, congressional districts, metropolitan areas, and counties and places with a population of 65,000 or more.
The report shows that the current population of the United States as a whole is 334,914,896.
Nationally, also, there are more females than males in the country, with women making up 50.5 percent of the population.
In terms of ethnicity, nationally, the number of people who are described as white number 242,238,470. That’s 72.3 percent of the population.
Of the two big cities in the state of Missouri – Kansas City (main picture) and St Louis – the one with the larger population is still Kansas City, with a population of 510,671. St. Louis has a total population of 281,754.
Male-female rations in both cities are similar to those of the state and the nation.
